Re: What a Voice!!

Yes, he has, but he does seem to strain on the high notes.... reckon he will go a long way with some voice training... he is young yet, and has a power in his lungs, that will eventually be used to full effect when he matures...

Re: What a Voice!!

that lady has a powerful and moving voice.  wasn't so taken with the lad and anyway, his voice will break to something unrecognisable.

Good voice for a young lad and a nice key change.

For those who can`t work out her age...... she was 59 years old when she sang "The Power Of Love"  in 2006
AND.... she is still singing to packed houses....  Smiley

Be3G, absolutely. Grin  an excellent way of preserving a beautiful soprano.

Re: What a Voice!!

From what I’ve read on the subject – the majority of the "original voices" didn’t remain, many of the boys died after the operation was carried out.
I have a CD of the original recordings made (1902 & 1904) of Alessandro Moreschi  - one of the last of the castrati - but I can’t recommend the recordings!

Re: What a Voice!!

Indeed, I've heard the recording too in a lecture and I can't say it was the most enjoyable music-listening experience ever. It's an interesting thought though - those who did survive the 'process' effectively became A-list international celebrities... which will have really been saying something back in those days when the dissemination of information internationally will have been extremely slow.
