What a Great Word

Complements of The One Show.
People that visit medical websites to self diagnose an ailment they believe they have.
They log off with more ailments than they logged on with.
And the term for this is Cyberchondria

I'm surprised they don't say "End User Interface".
I keep hearing that I'm an "End User", but I deny ever having used ends.....

Re: What a Great Word

I read somewhere some time ago there was a movement to ban the use of the word user from  the IT industry because of the negative connotations.

Re: What a Great Word

I've got a sister who's like that. She's got a whole bookshelf full of those "The family doctor companion" type books.
I think she's convinced the kids are suffering from "Index, Contents and Appendix" Roll eyes

Re: What a Great Word

Yeah my Aunt )bless her) was too and used to take all this herbal remedy stuff, about 6 months before she died she was diagnosed with firring of the arteries and was offered an op, she declined and said "no these herbal tablets will sort me out"
She and my Uncle had really bad rows about it, 6 months later she passed away and he asked for a post mortem to be carried out, she died due to firring of the arteries.
So in my view these kind of books need to be banned along with herbal remedies as the books can lead to a 'crying wolf' situation and the *cough* remedies can lull you into a false sense of security.
Not sure what you can do about the 'net as any nutter can put anything up and flog anything to anyone.
