Welcome Home!!

Just seen this on E4 - what a great commercial.  It's the latest in T-Mobile's ongoing series.

I bett that it was a nightmare for security staff at the airport.

Re: Welcome Home!!

It was filmed outside the arrivals so security wouldn't have been a major problem.  A combination of a very well rehearsed performance and some very impromptu appearances of passengers and staff.

I saw it on CH5 yesterday evening. Must have cost T-Mobile a few bob.

So you don't think it was filmed during the night when the airport is effectively closed using actors and extras? I would have thought it would be high risk using real passengers for them to refuse to sign a release. Or was it filmed on a sound stage?

Re: Welcome Home!!

According to the advertising agency it was real and it certainly looked that way to me.

T-Mobile Welcome Home Flash Mob
Posted on October 30, 2010 by Duncan
T-Mobile has launched a new flashmob advertising campaign, this time planting 300 performers in Terminal 5 at Heathrow Internaitonal Airport. Singers, accompanied by a ‘vocal orchestra’, peformed “At Last” by Etta James, “Comin’ Home Baby” by Mel Torme, “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison, “I am the Passenger” by Iggy Pop and “I Knew You Were Waiting (for me)” by George Michael & Aretha Franklin. The ‘Welcome Back’ stunt was filmed by 18 different hidden cameras, capturing the real reactions of people witnessing the event. Within 48 hours a 3 minute film was shown on over 80 digital and terrestrial channels in the UK, launched simultaneously on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. With hero spots on Channel 4 and E4 at 10.15pm, the launch is expected to reach more than 2m households and over 9m viewers on TV alone.

Re: Welcome Home!!

Here's a bit about the making of the commercial.  It must have been great to have been there and taken part Smiley
Background
Can't imagine how much it cost but T Mobile must be pleased with all the attention.

Re: Welcome Home!!

S & S the advertising agents who put this together for T Mobile are hoping it will pick up an award - could well do Smiley

Re: Welcome Home!!

Perhaps the award they get will be for spending a vast amount of money, advertising a product, without actually mentioning it....

(sorry if they did, I got fed up watching it, because I could not fathom out what it was supposed to be advertising)

Re: Welcome Home!!

Thanks, Jim,..... but if I have to watch that much rubbish before I know what the advert is about, it completely puts me off...so I don`t think I`ll bother...  Undecided
