Wedding of the century, are they mad?

Listening to the radio earlier (I actually had my hearing aid in for a change) I was somewhat taken by surprise to hear the forthcoming Windsor Markle nuptials described as '"the wedding of the century"

Are they mad I thought, what the heck are they on about?.... until Mrs Minivanman reminded me that we were now living in a new millennium.

So that's all right then. Roll eyes

They forgot to add '...so far'. Hard to believe that in the next 81 and a half years there may not be a better/more important/etc. weddingRoll eyes

Bit like in May when during a warm spell we hear it's 'the hottest day of the year'.

@Mav

The first Gay royal wedding perhaps?

Now that would be something - or not, by the time they get around to it.

Re: Wedding of the century, are they mad?

This is about as close as I'll be getting to watching any Royal Wedding on TV;

Warning to those who are easily offended, content might not be considered strictly PC.

Starring Harry Enfield;

Full episode available on All4

And it looks like there might be a follow-up episode.

Re: Wedding of the century, are they mad?

I'll not live long enough to see it, but how great if one day they had a 'royal' marrying some alien species. As I see it, it's the only hope we have at the moment of seeing any real dilution of that dynasty of inbreeds.

Listened with despair yesterday to a couple behind us on the bus back from Carmarthen talking about "getting ready with American flags and Union Jacks" - no doubt for a fun family affair of sycophantic television wedding watching.

I felt like getting off and walking home, but at my age a ten mile hike is just a bit too far. Smiley

With a royal wedding and an FA Cup Final on, it'll be nice and quiet here...  Smiley

Re: Wedding of the century, are they mad?

Do folks still use waffle makers?

Used to have one back in the 80s I think it was but like some other gadgets I could name (toasted sandwich maker for one) they were a real pain in the aspidestra to keep clean.

As for fried chicken no thanks. Like to see what I'm eating and the thought that there might be skin under that crispy coating....

KFC by the way also stands for Korean Fried Canine - just thought of that one. Roll eyes

Re: Wedding of the century, are they mad?

People do indeed still use waffle makers, it's how they make waffles... Funny

As fr fried chicken, making your own means you get to decide what goes into it, and if you're really on that side of the fence, you can remove the skin first before brining & breading, but in my opinion, you have to leave the skin on fried chicken, otherwise it's just dry and boring... Grin
