We're being cut off !!

The A57 Snake Pass will be closed from Monday 1 June until Sunday 14 June so that major repairs can be made to the retaining wall in four different places.
There will be no through route from Glossop to Sheffield for any vehicle while the work is taking place.
Councillor Dean Collins, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Infrastructure, said: “We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience while the Snake Pass is closed, but we cannot carry out this essential work without closing the road.”

A Few bikers will be fed up about that but a few lives might be saved during that time.

Re: We're being cut off !!

One of our favourite places along the Snake Pass are the Derwent Reservoirs, including the famous Ladybower...... Dambusters training ground.
We never visit at Weekends, or Bank Holidays though, far too busy.
We normal visit in the Jeep, we have found a nice little spot for a picnic, overlooking the reservoir, but you need a 4x4 to access the spot.
And there is never anyone else there !

And one very fortunate day, around 10 years ago, as we walked around Ladybower, a Lancaster flew overhead !!
It did a couple of circuits, then disappeared.
The roar of the Merlin engines was fantastic.
A sunny day, midweek, the place was deserted...
