Re: Warning

Yeah,.... But.... You can guarantee to see at least ONE person using their mobile whilst driving..... every day that you drive...
That sort of advert (?) should be shown in every cinema around the world... twice.....
Once before the film, and again 5 mins before the end of the film....  YES... stop the film... five mins before it ends.... then restart it... or ... better still .... don`t restart the film...
Another good time to show it, would be on TV before and during  sports programs... esp with motor racing... or soccer....

Re: Warning

While strange to report flying an aircraft we are REQUIRED to listen out to your callsign, answer if addressed and talk on the equivalent piece of equipment called a radio, all while flying, monitoring the instrumentation and performing look out scans around.
I will grant you that the 'talk' is along structured lines and not like a free flowing conversation.
In fact it is rather amusing the way drivers are being forced to use mobiles less and less while driving compared with flying where we are gradually through increases in controlled airspace over the UK being forced into being in radio contact/control more and more.

Re: Warning

But it's the ATCs who are also your eyes no?
I have no sympathy for anyone who uses a mobile phone when driving. The points and penalties should be greater.

Re: Warning

On a similar note cyclists should not use earphones and nor should pedestrians crossing a road.

Yes, indeed.... and a very good job they do too...

and when flying... you don`t have "numptys" / druggies / drunks / divs / chavs and general idiots for close company .... planes are separated by the ATC, according to type in a 3 dimensional space... unlike on the roads, where everyone has to make sure of their own space.
Being a pilot, or 2nd officer on a flight deck, there is more "professional" expertise than being a single  ( "numptys" / druggies / drunks / divs / chavs and general idiot ) driver. and the use of radio when flying is "part of the job/training" which does not require the person speaking to be constantly adjusting speed, direction, or observation as happens when driving.

Re: Warning

To add to shutter's comments...
I assume that pilots have regular assessments for both physical and mental fitness to fly whereas once vehicle test is passed there are no further checks/assessments.

No...they see traffic lights as part of last year's Christmas lights that some council worker forgot to take down.
