Vehicle registration

Has anyone considered what happens to the current sequence of vehicle registration numbers after 2011?
In the current year it is at this time 08, in September it will change to 58, no problem here. But in 2011 presumably in March the number will become 11, in the following September it will presumably change to 51, but this has already been used before in 2001. Or is there going to be a government push to take all vehicles over 10 years old off the road?

Re: Vehicle registration

If the price of petrol goes up much more most of the cars WILL be off the road.

Oh sorry, didn't realise it was that obvious.

Re: Vehicle registration

except that chilly`s idea is not really relevant to the original idea..... the 5 in the registration year was supposed to represent half way through the year ,    as in 5 being half of 10, or 5 being halfway between 0 and 10 ......  Oh, well, I suppose 6 really does represent halfway through the year as well, there being 12 months.... shall we take a vote on it? or a poll?  or just put chilly up for president minister of car registrations Cheesy

Re: Vehicle registration

The current system will last for 50 years, 00 to 49 cover cars registered in March between 2000 to 2049 and 50 to 99 for cars registered in September between 2000 to 2049

Re: Vehicle registration

As minister of car registrations, I wish to propose the following policy's;
Reduce fuel duty; and spend all revenue on road building and maintenance.
(OK some can go to the NHS)

Re: Vehicle registration

I have never worked out why there is not a motorist party, with most people having driving licenses and cars. I am sure that they would do well if only to show the main stream parties that they should listen to the poor motorist.
OK, I am sure that there foreign policy would be a disaster, and health care and education would suffer, but...
Enough of the politics.
