Valentines Day

Can somebody tell me how many 'Roses' it is for Valentines day.

Is it 6,12,or 18.....or should I just give her the whole tin?

Re: Valentines Day

Just give her the tin, @Minivanman , then she can't complain - or can she?😁

Re: Valentines Day

Speaking from experience she probably will if it results in weight gain.

Re: Valentines Day

Ha Ha Ha... still creeping then....  ? ? ??

came to an arrangement, with my missus, some years ago... that we would not buy each other valentines cards or prezzies... as it was just another "commercial" idea to extort money, through feigned sentimentality, and associated psychological advertising techniques.

the card usually went in the bin the next day... so a waste of 99p  ( each ) .. and as for the roses... ( chokky type or floral) again.. they would only end up in the compost, one way or another...

in effect. our decision has saved us money... and the planet too ! ! ... Smiley  ( no recycling necessary ! ! )  Cheesy

Re: Valentines Day

Yes, me and the other half reached that agreement, too, @shutter , although I still send her a dozen yellow roses (her favourites) occasionally, but only when they are not at silly prices.

Re: Valentines Day

Who says romance is dead?

Plusnet posters. 😄

I've decided to compromise and share the whole tin - apart from marzipan of course, the Mrs can have those.

Re: Valentines Day

Is it just me that thinks Valentine's Day is pointless.

If you can't express your love for your partner on another day of the year then I think the relationship just might struggle in the future.

Re: Valentines Day

@Minivanman

Buy a rose bush....it will last you for years.

Simply remove one rose on Valentine’s Day.....

Remember it the thought that counts.

Re: Valentines Day

None in are daring to even bud in our garden at the moment, but a nice thought @gleneagles

Do roses flower in winter? I suppose some varieties might... we'll have to check with @shutter

Yes, we have at least 40 in tubs around the garden... and some do flower late into december... in fact, we have one  that has been in flower for the past couple of weeks....

Re: Valentines Day

@Minivanman

So looks like my idea would work....

An alternative might be to whisper sweet nothings in her ear.....

After all it must have worked once.

Re: Valentines Day

I've got a couple of rose bushes in full flower at the moment. Totally fake of course. The wife decided to buy some (read lots of) plastic flowers to spruce up the garden for the Vietnamese Lunar New Year that happened a couple of days ago. Looks very realistic though.

Only downside is the wind is now getting up and blowing them off. More work for muggings tidying up the garden!

Ever helpful. Grin Sure, I’d love to help you out. Now which way did you come in?

Re: Valentines Day

Very good idea..... Often wanted to do that.. with a whole garden full of fake flowers ! ...

a note on the gate would read..... #

" Daffodils are for life,...

not just for easter/mothers day/St. David`s day "
