Under rated Q cars

Needed a wee runabout as main car giving bother and picked up first car I saw on Gumtree.
I didn't realize that I had bought a rare wee Q car.
Great fun embarrassing expensive marques out of corners and at the lights.
It makes you just go for a drive for the fun of it
Have you ever had a Q car ?

Re: Under rated Q cars

143 bhp in a small car like a Rover 25 means its very nippy  Cool

Re: Under rated Q cars

It is extremely nippy. Max torque is developed at 1500 rpm so torque curve is flat from 1500 rpm upwards.
Will happily accelerate strongly in every gear.
Great fun

Re: Under rated Q cars

ZR is for boy racers and they are 2 a penny.
Most of them trashed and head gasket problems.
There were only about 1200 GTIs made and about 190 left on the road.
The K series won't give bother if you regularly check the fluid levels and keep it below 3000 rpm until engine is warmed up

Re: Under rated Q cars

I suppose my Skoda Fabia 1.6 is a bit of a Q car, ... everyone thinks it`s a slow old diesel... but when I drop a gear and put the boot down... it really does shift.. and surprisingly quick to accelerate.. even if I stay in 5th gear.. it purrs along at 70 mph with no effort, and I recorded 74mpg whilst doing 70 mph along the M27 from Southampton to Portsmouth on Monday...

Great engine in those shutter. Definitely an underrated car. Some people still suffer from badge snobbery but at least you have a VW in disguise

Yup, had one (2 variations of the same model) for nearly 15 years now.
Looks like a boring ordinary saloon but has a 360HP V8 under the bonnet. From the factory, no modifications.  Cheesy

Re: Under rated Q cars

By Q do you mean it's registration starts with Q? - As in rescued from a scrap yard and re-registered type of car?
Or did you mean Q for quick?  Cheesy
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!
