Ultra Fast Broadband Speeds

Interesting article here from the Beeb concerning ‘Ultra Fast Broadband Speeds’ up to 10 gigabits per second! Makes the 5.5 mb that I get look a bit paltry. The Government are spending £1m on the project. Now that’s no mean figure of course but I’m struggling to believe that just one million is enough to ensure that the technology is advanced sufficiently to result in the increase in speeds that are being suggested here

Re: Ultra Fast Broadband Speeds

one million?  they spend many more times that making war on innocent civilians.  mean it is.  in fact, it's less than the expenses they ripped off.

I think it's almost exactly what the head of UKIP said he claimed in expenses over 4 or 5 years at the Europen Parliament.  Crazy

Re: Ultra Fast Broadband Speeds

Is this the project they want to reinvent?

Re: Ultra Fast Broadband Speeds

Spencer of the BBC's 'Click' was in a new housing developing a few weeks ago. The properties were all wired up with this ultra fast broadband. By the end of the programme I got the impression that he was having a bit of a tough time wondering what to do with the speed, unless you had several computers running off it at the same time.
I probably lack imagination, but I can't see the point really. My speed is usually between 5 - 6 meg and it seems perfectly good enough.  Huh

Re: Ultra Fast Broadband Speeds

i clocked the latency result on the test he did on that new build fibre and it was worse than i get now. Grin
also the connection was capped to 8mb and he had to pay extra to use the 100mb ( they never said how many minutes / hours you got of uncapped speed for how long for what price
