Re: US Presidency

If it's going to happen then this is the time. Hillary Clinton has rebranded herself and in her first major speech in NY yesterday came across very strongly. She would make a very good President.

Re: US Presidency

Maybe it's just me but I don't see a black president in America.
I see a man of mixed race like many other Americans.
I find the current practice of labelling people "black" or "white" strange.
In labelling him "black" isn't it an insult to his "white" forbears?
Perhaps there is a paint chart somewhere that is held up to peoples skin for classification?
All talk of race or gender just clouds the one important issue.
Has he been and is he a good president?

Re: US Presidency

@ Strat.... so.. it appears from your wording..... that you are not comfortable with a woman in charge of peoples lives...
Scenario.... you live in the country... buses are twice daily to  your local bus stop.... one at 8 am. and one at 1 pm... ( into town/city)... with the obvious return journeys simlarly scheduled... you are waiting at the bus stop, at 8 am... and along comes a bus.... driven by a woman..... what do you do... your hospital appoint ment is 10 mins after the bus arrives at the hospital, ( say 0910 )... do you walk? or do you catch the bus  ? or miss the appointment altogether ?
Like wise for trains, and planes....
Oh, yeah... and did we not have a woman as president?
some greengocer`s daughter .... mind you... I`m not sure that she did a good job or not ...  Cheesy

Re: US Presidency

I don't think Strat has a problem with a female president. I think he was asking is it possible for a woman to get elected. In America that's not as easy as it might appear.

If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, oh well, that's their problem... Grin

Re: US Presidency

1) As artmo correctly says I have absolutely no problem with a woman president of the United States.
2) My black friends have no problem being called black but maybe it was an over simplification for some and to them I apologise.
I saw much of her speech and she comes across as very strong and confident.
I would give her serious consideration.

Re: US Presidency

It looks like she will get the nomination for the Democrats. If she does she will have a calming influence on the Republicans. They would then be likely to nominate Jeb Bush to stand against her. That would be an interesting contest.
The Republicans would love to have one of their Tea Party supporters nominated but this would not be likely against HC.
