UKIP

Richard Braine elected as new leader of UKIP. How unfortunate.

With a name like that let's hope they don't shorten it... but they will of course. Wink

Re: UKIP

He's a member of UKIP, it deserves to be shortened just for that alone.

Re: UKIP

UKIP and Brexit party are like trade unions,  there is a time when they are needed but then when everything is rosy again ( or people think it is ) and working conditions and wages are OK  / mass immigration is reduced.  The country voted to leave the EU in a referendum that would not have been held but for UKIP pressure on the two main parties. Unions and UKIP lose support. Until the next time they are needed.  Cometh the hour - cometh the party LOL

The pendulum of life swings both ways, and just like nature does ( balance of nature ), when one group gets too powerful a counter -group will come into existence until something like a balance is restored again.

@wotsup

Well it's job done as the vanguard for the dissatisfied, but now it's well past it's sell-by date - so why is it still going I wonder. Maybe if Boris bungles it and Brexit fails to happen then maybe that pendulum will swing back as you say.

UKIP were never the Titanic, more of a pilot boat that knew what half the country wanted and led the way.

Used to have a boss named Richard Head,  and worked with another one called Mike Hunt ( hilarious when receptionist used the tannoy to announce 'phone call for Mike Hunt ' ).

Re: UKIP

We had a boss who always insisted we address him by his surname, he hated anyone using his forename.

He was awarded a knighthood........

@Champnet

Such is life, and not saying it's right but when the existing system does not provide, folks will turn to those they think will.

Look to history and you will find countless examples, look across the Atlantic and you will see Trump who was said by all to be a dead donald duck in the water and that Hilary was a dead cert to win... until she lost.

And here, well we have our own version with Boris.

Populist party leaders? Be afraid, be very afraid.
