Today we are exporting about 1GW to France... see pic. I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to import from France because the state of their generation is worse than ours (which is probably why we are exporting today; very cold in France).

There are eight cables on the sea bed between here and France, four of them have been severed, probably by a ships anchor. Capacity has been reduced by 50% approx.

This is what's been reported in the FT and as we normally export to France during the winter it shouldn't cause to much of an issue, but if it's not fixed by summer things might change. Imagine the size of the roll of insulating tape they'll need to fix that!

This is the total import/export by source for yesterday and so far today. We were importing about 1GW yesterday evening but have been exporting since then. Settlement periods are 30 mins each.

With their chain of nuclear power stations - especially along the Loire, I always assumed we imported from France.
Just goes to show eh.

They have technical problems with their plant, and even bigger ones with Hinkley Point, not that that will affect power flow (yet!).
