Trust

What does the word, 'Trust' mean ?
According to my dictionary it includes, firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability of someone or some thing......the state of being responsible for someone or something.......have trust in.........trust someone to have confidence in or look after........
Now bearing that in mind are health services across the country that use the word 'Trust' in their title not misleading the public ?

Re: Trust

"Trust me when I say"
That always has the opposite effect when someone says that to me.

your dictionary is lacking if that's all it says under "trust"
it can also be a group responsible for care (oxford pocket edition) amongst other things

Re: Trust

Trust as in a trusted right-hand man. Some one you can trust even though he's armed with a sword and in a position to inflict injury.
A modern day version is an NHS Trust. When a corporate body can be trusted to always act in your best interests.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

A Politician may say trust me but it's not part of their title whereas the NHS actually uses the word in their title !
