Travel programs on TV

I don't really bother watching travel programs on tv as some seem to focus more on the presenter than the actual place but one exception was,'Walking the Americas' with Levison Wood who is on a 4 month trek across central America.

Not the ideal place to be walking, which includes jungles and swollen rivers, along with the route being used by drug smugglers, hardly a place to be filming.

The scenery looks amazing, in paricular those temples

Re: Travel programs on TV

Don't watch much tv, peroid. But I do listen to the radio, esp in the car. The local radio station carries an interesting travel show.
Now I know how do you have a travel show on the radio? R4 has done one for years I believe though.
The one I like is "Keri Jones presents The Great Destinations Radio Show"

Re: Travel programs on TV

The last travel show I watched, the late Jill Dando was hosting it, and that was quite some time before her death...

Whicker's World was always worth watching.

They just don't make them like that anymore.

Re: Travel programs on TV

You know you are old if you remember Judith Chalmers when she was white.

I used to enjoy Whicker's world etc.  I remember towards the end of his career he did an exclusive luxury round-the-world tour and some of the (American of course) tourists complained that there were too many poor people lining the road from some Indian airport into the city.
