Re: Trams on the telly !

Showing my age but I remember riding on the old London trams.

Went to Blackpool in 1953 ( before starting National Service) and thought trams were really modern.

Re: Trams on the telly !

I used to go to school on the tram, in Leicester,  and noticed a couple of Leicester City Tramways vehicles on that prog... in particular the one where he was standing "under the stairs" in the driver position, explaining the holes in the steps.. they also showed the city coat of arms etched into one of the window panels.

Re: Trams on the telly !

People put old pennies on the line during the last tram run in Sheffield (1960) for the tram to run over as a memento.
I used to have one but it disappeared years ago Sad

I used to have a coin not a tram.

Re: Trams on the telly !

Even though I was only 3 when the last tram ran in Liverpool in 1957 I still have vague recollections of them

Re: Trams on the telly !

When were the Jubilee trams introduced in Sheffield, early 1950s? I remember waiting for one of those to ride from central Sheffield to Eccleshall terminus (Sunday outing). Walked back to town partly through the park.

Re: Trams on the telly !

Only trams round here are the ones at Beamish museum, but they're kind of loopy, they just go round and round in a circle... Grin

Re: Trams on the telly !

My Dads favourite work entertainment when he was a nipper.

Two trams head to head in a pushing contest. First one to pop their jumpers lost.

When no one was looking of course.
