Thoughts on the US election

Well, as the US is going to be under new management come January one wonders what the next four years will bring.
Setting aside all the hype about how historic it is that the US has elected its first Black president, etc I'm quite relieved that they've elected someone who at least appears to be intelligent (McCain looked to be another Dubya to me)
I just hope that we get the chance to vote and chuck out President Prime Minister Brown soon.
What are your thoughts on the election?

Re: Thoughts on the US election

His mother is white, his father is black - so is he black or white ?. I thought it was mixed race, or whatever.
But regardless of his skin colour which is irrelvant to me - I think the US electorate did the best thing.
Good luck to them all.

Re: Thoughts on the US election

Yeah they elected someone intelligent for once.
Though he is being compared to JFK in terms of popularity, think that would put the wind up ne a little if I were him considering what happened to poor old Kennedy
Yes I do believe it was an inside job.

It's 1997 all over again and it will all end it tears.
Any American that believes real change will occur is as gullable as all the 'New' Labour voters.

Re: Thoughts on the US election

I understand totally what you are saying - but Obama is very different from even Clinton.
John Kennedy was certainly very different from the Bushes - and he made quite an impact.
