This is what you get if you rely on spell checkers

Virgin Media has announced plans to cut 2,200 jobs by 2012, which it hopes will result in savings of up to £120m per year upon completion. The cuts are being made as part of Virgin's strategic review but have also been exasperated by the cold bite of a looming recession.

I wonder how long before they correct it?

i'd have used 'exascerbated,' wouldn't you?
i don't think it is a spelling checker error.  i think it's an example of using a word one only thinks one knows the meaning of.

(N.B. It's 'exacerbated' - no 's')
To be honest, I think it was probably just an innocent mistake. Sometimes it happens to me when typing; I write a word that's somehow on my mind (perhaps the writer was annoyed about something) rather than the word I actually meant to write. Though of course, it should've been picked up through some kind of proof-reading...

Do it myself on e-mail on a regular basis but proof read my stuff before I send.
This is what happens when brain works quicker than you can type.

Looks like Virgin's public relations company will be getting it in the neck for this error.  Maybe Virgin should look at cuts in this area Wink
