Re: This is a big year for films..

Apart from Jumanji the next level ( home release in a couple of weeks ) there is nothing else that is coming out that really interests me.

We dont bother with cinema now, its to expensive, having to sit through endless trailers & promotions, there is always noisy / annoying people in there, people getting up halfway through etc.

Rather wait for the home release & watch a film in comfort.

Re: This is a big year for films..

Cinema does have its plus side as some films are best seen on the big screen such as 1917 which I went to see a couple of weeks back. Cheaper to go during the day which we are able to because of retirement, less people because, well because it's during the day so less disruption.

Must admit the endless trailers and promotions are a real pain - we had to sit through over half an hour of them before the main feature.

It was also a good day out, with a free bus ride into town and back thrown in for good measure.

Re: This is a big year for films..

Doubtful if we will ever get to the cinema again.....not due to any difficulty in mobility but....

Sit still for hours on end, plus a boring half hour watching trailers and adverts....no thanks.

Contrast that with sitting at home having a drink choosing what to watch and no boring ads.

Last time I was at the cinema, Chicken Run was still new and only in the cinemas, so, oh, about 20 years ago, too expensive these days...

Re: This is a big year for films..

The ticket price for cinema is not realy that bad, and during the day

not too many people to annoy you, but when you have a wife like

mine who insists on having a large popcorn and drink then that is the

expensive bit,  and the problem is she never eats all the popcorn and

a lot of drink is left,  but I have suggested getting a smaller size in

the past and am lucky to still have a head left....

Re: This is a big year for films..

The cinema we went to just recently was not even a tenth full yet lo and behold, we had a couple sat smack bang in front of us in those posh seats favoured by some places. Both had a huge tub of popcorn in front of them and the female part of the duo also had a huge hot dog that must have been at least twelve inches long!

And no smutty replies please it really was a hot dog, not a euphemism. 😊

What is it with those huge tubs popcorn?  The good thing was that by the time the film started they had finished muching and crunching so at least there was not that to contend with during the perfomance.

I thought rucksacks in public buildings would be a real terrorist risk,

I would expect one to draw loads of attention from pretty much everybody.

@wotsup

A ban on rucksacks?

I really don't think that's the case.
