Re: Theresa May - Who Will Succeed Her? - Formerly 'Theresa May'

Most of these MPs know they have no chance, especially one like Rory Stewart and Matt Hancock who are spouting compromise and can't leave without a deal.  Are these muppets really so unaware of the attitude of the Tory party members attitudes to the compromise and dithering that has been the hallmark of Theresa May feeble attempts at 'negotiations' and has so emboldened the likes of Barnier and Weyand - allowing no deal to be taken away was a gift to EU, and has wasted almost 3 years - the nest PM needs to be a true believer in Brexit and willing to walk away.

Watching Rory Stewart on Question Time last night, and what the heck was he on about. He might be a smart arsenal down here in earth but he's got his head in the clouds. Mind you, Labour's Barry Gardiner could waffle for England.

@Champnet

Ah yes, "Love is the keyword to healing divisions in the country" from Stewart, and from Gardiner we had "Kindness, that's what we need to bring back not just into politics...."

And there was me thinking Flower Power had wilted away by the time we got to 70s.  Wink

Already a letter in our local paper from  a green party wallah trying to convince people that Farage is Hitlers love child and a vote for Brexit Party is a vote for war in Europe and general mayhem.

@jab1

Let's leave no main party out either for a swipe.

Jo Swinson the Lib Dim lady on what has now become a show, for all her high horse smugness was I seem to recall one of those pulled up about her expenses - £550 for a second home television "so that she could keep up with the news", lipstick liner, eye liner (gotta look your best in the House) tooth flosser oh, and a fiver or whatever to have a spare key cut for her cleaning lady to dust off the day with her 29p each dusters (yep, she claimed for those as well) around her London flat.

I also seem to recall the police dropped their inquiries, but still.

@Minivanman I wasn't leaving any of the parties out - they're all in it for what they can get, not to 'serve the country', but this thread is specifically about the Conservative Party.

@wotsup

Hitler really must have been hiding in Argentina after the war then, as Farage was born in 1964. Desperate  times, desperate claims and who cares about the truth. Not the media that's for sure.

Re: Theresa May - Who Will Succeed Her? - Formerly 'Theresa May'

So how many MP's in the 'frame for fame' now - are we at thirteen unlucky for some yet? Roll_eyes

PS. Here we go, Jesse Norman is mulling it over.

Re: Theresa May - Who Will Succeed Her? - Formerly 'Theresa May'

I have no idea, but as I hardly bother following what passes for 'politics' these days, I have to admit I've hardly heard of any of the contenders, and I've a sneaking suspicion they'll all be as useless as the current incumbent.

Politics today has never been so interesting in my view. What's not to like?

We've paid for the show, so let's all sit back and enjoy the circus. Smiley
