Ah, Phillip Hammond that snake in the grass Chancellor who is the most staunch remainer and Brexit assassin in the cabinet, the humourless toad, the smuggest of the smug..

@TTman yes I saw him and I thought he came across very well. He is certainly on top of his brief. He doesn't have many fans amongst his fellow MPs as they see him as being too cautious. He has built up a sizeable war chest which he won't put into the economy in case it is needed for a no-deal Brexit.

Hammond has no chance - and knows it. The people who will finally decide - the 125,000 members of the conservative party are almost universally wedded to Brexit (sod the people who work for a living and the Irish border problem). Most of them probably voted for Farage  anyway - but won't say so as they would loose their membership and vote!

So any candidate offering a sane future stands no chance of being elected leader.

Enough for a football team nowSmiley

Some of the contenders don't stand a chance of winning. It will just delay and possibly confuse the situation.

Well the many might not have wanted her deal, but the many certainly wanted her job.

Two faced toads the lot of them.

Re: Theresa May - Who Will Succeed Her? - Formerly 'Theresa May'

As Farage keeps saying the EU withdrawal agreement May signed up to is not a 'deal' but a 'legally binding EU treaty with no exit clause'.  Why everyone keeps calling it a deal I do not know,  the deals come later and they will be controlled by the 'no exit clause treaty'.  We already have some mini-deals' on important thinks like flights and lorries signed up. Farage also says that anyone who knows the EU should not expect them to change even a comma in the WA treaty,  so October 31 here we come - when the ghosts of the EU deceit rise from their unholy mouldy treaties past and haunt the new conservative leader, who needs to get his bottle of Holy Brexit water and Garlic out to shoo them back whence they came....

Those MPs that declare they're standing as candidates don't have to pledge their allegiance to another, hence avoiding a fallout...

Breaking news:

Boris Johnson has been ordered to appear in court over claims he lied by saying the UK gave the EU £350m a week.

Re: Theresa May - Who Will Succeed Her? - Formerly 'Theresa May'

So why you might ask is Marcus J Ball, a vocal campaigner for Brexit prior to that EU referendum, trying to take him to court given that he admits both sides promulgated lies?

As his representative said, it's just a stunt. It's also a crowdfunded private prosecution for a bit of Boris bashing - but there go, populism has it's price.

Personally, I think members on both sides of the House should be prosecuted for telling lies about wanting to take us out of the EU.

If you can be locked up for bending the facts a little, then they may as well move the whole of parliament  to Wormwood Scrubbs - bear in mind this is a private prosecution and the judge said there is just about enough to take it to court but it may not get very far........

I am waiting for the first prominent remainer to appear in court for dressing biased economic and trade forecasts as 'facts'.

The courts should not be used as a politician arena.

If they want to prosecute a liar, what about Blair and Campbell who lied about WMD and spun us into a war that ended up costing thousands of lives.

Re: Theresa May - Who Will Succeed Her? - Formerly 'Theresa May'

If the late Princess Diana thought three was a crowd, what I wonder would she make of the race for the Tory leadership which now has twelve hats in the ring now that Mark Harper has thrown his in.

It really is the silly season. Who next I wonder, Ken Clarke?  Funny
