The murky world of Russian banking

Before you moan too much about British banks have a look into the murky world of Russian banking. It's quite a long article, so arm yourself with a cup of tea beforehand. As always with banking it is not victimless crime.  I so wish the banks would be forced to go back to proper banking instead of the casino banking of speculation, derivatives and securitisation. It's the "common people" who will and are paying for these activities
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: The murky world of Russian banking

As you say it will be the 'Plebs' who will be paying for these activities and that's the whole point, no matter how much of a B***s up they make of it their high pay and bonuses are still there.
Even now the banks are continuing to pay virtually zero rates of interest on savings but increase interest on overdrafts and fail to make loans to small business.
The whole system is rotten  and the rest of us will have to bail the banks out again if further problems occur.

Re: The murky world of Russian banking

If there was a decent regulator it should insist that savers interest rates are based more in line with the actual banks lending rates.
Not on the Bank of Englands interest rate which is currently just a banks excuse to pay savers next to nothing for supplying most of the money that the banks play with.
