The humour of the young??

Having ordered two hot chocolates in my local Starbucks, I proceeded to the queue of those waiting for their drinks and nibbles.
Whilst waiting I noticed an advertising mural on the wall with a heading "Starbucks have been roasting coffee beans since 1987"
My drinks were called by a young man, he noticed me looking at the mural and looked up himself with a look of wonderment as if this was the first time he had seen it, I said "you would think they would be ready by now" the callow youth regarded me with a baleful stare, and responded with a carefully chosen "wah!!" exclamation. I began again "you would think..." I observed that the lad was now wearing an expression of deep incomprehension, so I put him out of his misery by finishing with "Oh never mind"
A woman standing near my shoulder of similar advanced years as myself, chuckled.
Obviously watches too many modern "comedians" .

That thought also occurred to me itsme. But a further thought occurred to me that if he had, by his expression, it was outside his limited attention span.

I get a similar response when they announce the cost as being £2.30 (two-thirty) and I usually respond with "better see the dentist, then!". The younger ones look in bewilderment and the older ones chuckle.

Perhaps the young think it's racist?

@7up if there was a different humour then your comment could be valid. I think the issue here is lack of humour, or the lights on but nobody home  Roll eyes

Like many current songs, if there isn't a dozen 'F' words in the lyrics it's almost incomprehensible to them.
