The global NO vote

I have been talking to an American friend about Trump, Brexit and the Scottish referendum.
The Scottish referendum went against predicted results,The European referendum was close to call as was the US election.
After lengthy, often heated, discussion we agree that all votes were a protest against the establishment. And with a simple binary option there ess always going to be a propensity for upset. The Americans particularly have this 'trouble' accepting Trump because the option in the vote was either Clinton or Trump, if there was a third party or more, the result would have been very different. Probably Clinton winning but without a majority as the protest vote would be divided amongst other candidates.
There does seem to be a growing disquiet with the establishment worldwide.

I can see that could work - Independence for Scotland - Stay in the UK - Become part of Iceland Smiley

I think you mean establishments. There is no single establishment that rules the world... other than religion of varying forms it seems.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

There were to be other options, but they were just hounded and attacked by both the trump and clinton teams to make sure they went away, cos that's "democracy" in action... Crazy2

Re: The global NO vote

A rough and ready summary but correct all the same Wink

Join the dots and what do we see once we've linked Trump, Farage, Putin and yes even Isis. We see a clear shift away from post war liberal democracy towards one of right wing Conservatism and national self interest.

Say goodbye to the welfare state, say goodbye to middle ground consensus, say goodbye to consideration of the minority and say hello to a new world order as those old establishments crumble - and watch out as Marine Le Pen gets herself elected to the Elysee Palace next spring, and the far right takes charge in Norway.

As said before it's going to be a bumpy ride folks, so hold on to your hats.
