I agree, cars are definitely cheaper and better than they used to be.
I've currently got 2 cars each almost 10 years old - very new designs when built so still fairly modern. Neither shows any sign of giving up in the next few years and work perfectly.
Whereas back in the 70's and 80's after 5 years or so...... Sad
