Re: The biggest Christmas Tree in Britain?

Surprisingly symmetrical and well "drawn" considering the pen is a plane.

Re: The biggest Christmas Tree in Britain?

Yes, indeedy,  there are a few pilots in the USA who do really complicated, and large, flower head designs too !..

Re: The biggest Christmas Tree in Britain?

Christmas party night at Swanwick NATS:

Swanwick: Swanwick Golf Romeo Victor Delta Golf, maintain flight level three decimal one five zero, adopt Christmas tree pattern around Weedon Bec before heading 185 and contacting Heathrow approach on niner eight decimal seven.

Pilot:  What the ...?  Ah well it's Christmas, might as well.

(The frequency given is fictitious, please do not try to contact ATC on that or any frequency unless you are authorised to do so.)

Here's the iconic tree we receive every year from Norway.

Re: The biggest Christmas Tree in Britain?

That's always an impressive and welcome sight.

I wish my city centre still had the Christmas lights I remember as a kid.

I wonder what happened to them?

Re: The biggest Christmas Tree in Britain?

Apparently a lot of people were unhappy with this year's tree and "took to Twitter" (what else does one do these days).  http://macedoniaonline.eu/content/view/30573/46/  Apparently it doesn't look enough like the conical ones in Disney cartoons; it may have done so if they didn't have to cut part of it off because it was too tall.

Isn't it the height of bad manners to criticise a gift given in gratitude by an old friend?

Re: The biggest Christmas Tree in Britain?

If they are complaining about the shape of the one in Trafalgar Square at the moment, they'd be rioting in the streets if this unshapely horror appeared in the square.  I don't think it's a Norway spruce anyway so probably wouldn't qualify on 'nationality' grounds.
