The Rock

I've seen this before but thought it was worth another look.

Can You Believe a Teenager Did This?

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.
It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scroll down and check out the multiple photos. (all angles) of the rock.
I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.

Re: The Rock

There was a question raised recently on TV  "when does graffiti become acceptable as art"
I answered the question by saying "graffiti is art in the wrong place" just as a weed is a flower in the wrong place.

Re: The Rock

Very true, Strat.  On a visit to New York I remember being very impressed with some of the graffiti on the subway trains.  Wrong place, misguided but very clever.  And I won't even mention Banksy  Smiley

Re: The Rock

What I find so good about this is that it was done by a 19 year old boy.

Re: The Rock

Yes, as Strat asked, 'when does graffiti become acceptable as art'.  They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
