The One Show blackout

Ricky Gervais is on The One Show and said something not suitable for evening viewing and the show was blacked out for a couple of seconds twice.
To put it mildly I'm no a fan of Ricky Gervais but the program is on in the background and I couldn't help noticing the breaks.
Nigella Lawson was being discussed at the time regarding cooking of a turkey.
I'll say no more. Lips are sealed

Re: The One Show blackout

Ricky Gervais is nowhere near as funny as he thinks he is IMO.
And everyone knows you can't say bad words on TV before 9 PM.

Re: The One Show blackout

I've never thought he was funny either to be honest. He clearly thinks he is because his career took off in a stand up comedy but that doesn't make HIM funny at all. It just means he can follow a script.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

I agree, I think some think they are being being clever by 'thinking' or pretending he is funny....he is not!

Re: The One Show blackout

I think there was some good satire in The Office (although none as elegant as that of Chris Morris), but since then he has resorted to cheap, lazy and nasty methods to get laughs.

That's being very generous to him. He's a mile off being as funny as that!

Surely there must be someone out there who likes Gervais and what he does for a living. Undecided

The Encyclopedia Galactica has him listed in the second batch against the wall when the revolution comes. (The first, obviously being the Marketing Department of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation)

I do!
Gervais can be an acquired taste, and you either get him or you don't.
The One Show on the other hand, if he got it blacked out (even if only a few seconds) then he performed a public service IMO.
It's programming aimed at the lowest common denominator, hosted by smiley, vacuous presenters i'm convinced are only employed by the BBC to  put a tick in some checkboxes.
