The Decline of the Bacon Buttie.

More of the same telling us to eat less of the usual.

I've made it this far so nothing is going to change around here and yes, as a (well over) fifty five year old I do get checked out regularly and for free by the NHS.

Re: The Decline of the Bacon Buttie.

Bacon. and eggs used to be a staple diet for many working families in the 1950's.

A good breakfast set you up for the day, most men in those days had jobs that required a lot of physical work compared to the type of work many people do now.

Women also had more physical tasks to carry out in those days and obesity was virtually non existent.

Eat and drink in moderation is the key, over indulge and the risk of ill health increases.

We are born into history and history is born into us.

I think I am about the same age. Eaten them all my life, nothing like one at 6 am from a greasy spoon cafe after working nights!!!Also no hope for me as I used to get mucky fat sandwiches  ( beef dripping for them not from yorkshur) with plenty of salt as well. GREAT!!!!

Re: The Decline of the Bacon Buttie.

Always something to fuss about. I wouldn't mind but they don't ever give refunds on my NHS contributions when I don't use it. My Grandma used to eat them regularly. On reflection, I don't think I'd want to live much longer than she did. We all tend to peg out around 82-85yrs, but always working up to that point. I have no intention of living to a ripe old age! We're all going to die at some point. Live with it!

Ever helpful. Grin Sure, I’d love to help you out. Now which way did you come in?

Re: The Decline of the Bacon Buttie.

Give it another ten years and the national pastime of celebrating Christmas will be seen as politically incorrect.

I wouldn't go so far as to celebrate him/her, but the sudden absence from the 12th March is a bit concerning.
