The Chancellors Autumn Statement

Quote
The Autumn Statement 2012 will be made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, on Wednesday 5 December at 12.30pm.

Am I being pedantic isn’t December  winter. I get a little worried when 'our leaders' don't know what season it is. Wouldn’t it be better to call it a Christmas Statement Roll eyes

Because there are 2 definitions for the seasons. @artmo has supplied the dates for the Astronomical but the Meteorological seasons start on the 1st  March, June September and December.

I don't think it starts at any particular time anymore to be honest. It's all so muddled up these days its easier to go by the month (or make it up as you go  Cheesy)

I Doubt there will be any warmth in his statement irrespective of what time of year he makes it.

Early leaks suggests that benefits will not be increased in line with inflation, if at all.  The one exception is the State pension which will be increased in line with the agreed formula.

Money saved by taking from the poor  to scrap a 3p per litre rise in petrol prices.

Re: The Chancellors Autumn Statement

It snowed this morning so I'm convinced it's winter.
People have been recieving their 'winter fuel allowance' (as it's often known) so I'm still convinced it's winter.
There's no leaves left on our trees so I don't think it's Autumn any more.
I'm sure the 'Autumn Statement' will be at least as controvercial as my comments above.
I hope the 3p/litre not being added to petrol prices also applied to Diesel!  Increasing road fuel prices (especially Diesel) hits everyone as it pushes up the cost of goods in shops.
