The Census

Well, just completed that waste of 10 minutes. Apart from a bit of a facetious answer 'What was your Job title? followed by 'Describe your duties', where I answered 'Production Controller' and 'Controlled Production' respectively, I answered all the non-optional questions correctly, but I've no idea what good it will do.

Surely if you do it before the 21st it will include a lot of people who are 'no longer with us' as they say, which defeats one of the main purposes of the census.

I can foresee their system crashing on the 21st.  Twenty million households trying to complete their census on line in about 16 hours.

Re: The Census

That shouldn't be a problem in this household, @Jonpe  - there's only me, and I have no current plans to go off on a jaunt on the 21st - unless it's a couple of hours shopping. Smiley

Re: The Census

Reading earlier this is more than likely to be the last one as much of the information can now be gathered from other sources such as passports, driving licences and national insurance information - which is a shame in some ways. Future historians and family researches would much rather have something tangible rather than some impersonal information thrown up on a computer screen. I know I would, and be far more likely to trust what had been written down rather than what had been entered into some data base.

Re: The Census

You obviously haven't had your letter yet then, @Minivanman  - the information they ask for this time would all fit on one A4 page with room to spare if it was a paper version, and tells you nothing.

Re: The Census

@jab1

Well  no I've not, but you saying that surely supports what I am saying in that much of the information is already 'out there'. The only extra I can see is it tells them we are still alive and that we are compliant! 🙂

Face to face form filling as was done in the past is one thing, but self assessment and truth rarely go hand in hand.

Re: The Census

I agree with your last point, @Minivanman , although my replies were truthful, for what little use they are.

Because of the controversy over Lockheed Martin being involved in the running of, and collation of data harvested by the 2011 Census, I managed to avoid compliance by not submitting the form.

I've not yet bothered to find out who's involved with this years attempt, but after last time I'd be surprised if it was a Merkin company.
