Thanksgiving

For the past couple of years, we have visited friends in San Francisco for Thanksgiving, really nice atmosphere.
We weren't going to bother this year, however we've just been invited last minute to join our American friends in Florida, at WDW for Thanksgiving this year.
A couple dropped out, and as the places were booked, how could we refuse.
No doubt a spectacular Fireworks Display or two, and lots of scrumptious food.
It's 27ºC there at the moment !
Apart from the fact WDW will no doubt be packed, it should still be an enjoyable time.
As last year, we will probably invite some back for Christmas here in the UK....
The best of both worlds.

I find Man v Food https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_v._Food compulsive viewing. It reinforces all my prejudices about American food  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Re: Thanksgiving

Where we are staying, and usually stay, Animal Kingdom Lodge, has a wonderful Restaurant, good quality food, and will section off an area upon request, as we have done.
Amazing Fireworks Display at Epcot night-time.
Great atmosphere this week.
Time to go stuff our faces !!!

But I bet it tastes good.

Don't be fooled by that... when i was out there some of it was trash quality. I don't know how the americans stand for it - our McDonalds beef burger meat is actually superior to theirs. KFC again.. superior.
Their fries.. urgh... the burgers... urgh... even their 7up and sprite... urgh... they actually taste SALTY instead of sugary for some really odd reason. Even their heinz ketchup is strange.
Yes the fast food portions are bigger (to the point where you struggle to eat them) but the taste is terrible.
Not sure about proper restaurants... I only visited one and that didn't excite my taste buds much either.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the American knockoff of the English Harvest Festival which was highjacked by early Christian priests from the earlier pagan god worship. In a way it is a bit like the Black Friday festival which celebrates capitalism.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Thanksgiving

We seem to be adopting more American fashions as time goes by, some of them not that good.
Pagan god worship ? Was he the brother of rosehip ?

... not the least annoying of which is their language and the way they use English (alternate, likely etc, all used incorrectly as Clarkson would say!), but then again I suppose I might be an old curmudgeon. At least that's what the wife tells me!
