Thanks LloydsTSB for your Excessive Quote

The wonderful people at LloydsTSB Insurance had done it again. Roll eyes
Last year they quoted me a little over £400 for home and contents insurance. I got a quote from AgeUK for a little over £200 and signed up.
This year LloydsTSB Insurance have just quoted me £425 for TPFT for my car insurance. I got a quote from AgeUK of £203 fully comprehensive Smiley
No prizes for guessing what I did.
When I phoned LloydsTSB to cancel my home insurance they offered to reduce their quote but couldn't match the AgeUK one.
When I phoned to cancel my car insurance quote it was the same story.

What about such things as compulsory and voluntary excesses? Are they comparable?

Just goes to show that the banks are not as "helpful" as they try to make out...... and .... I heard a rumour that "free" banking is going to end soon......

Re: Thanks LloydsTSB for your Excessive Quote

Same here. I Was with direct line for the past 3 years and got a renewal figure of £460. Contacted Liverpool Victoria  and they offered me the same cover for £120 less.
Just out of interest I contacted direct line and they admitted they could not offer me a reduction of more than £60 on their original quote, so much for loyalty.
Not that I have ever made a claim in the past 40 years + and along with that have no points on my license
Seems there are very few providers it's worth sticking with, PN being one of the few exceptions so far.

That's where my insurance quotes generally come from these days.

Re: Thanks LloydsTSB for your Excessive Quote

I've had a bank account with the lloyds for about 10 years and every year they try to get me to have home / car insurance and every year it's double what I eventually pay.
You'd have thought they'd have given up by now.

And has anyone challenged "More Than"....... On their TV advert of  " 50% off Motor Insurance"...... ?
50% off what?  I bet if you asked them for a quote, they would say it was (say) £350..... and then you say.... oh so you really mean £175. cos that is 50% off..... .... and they say,,  Oh no,.... £350 is with the 50% off... and you say..... Oh Really ?  ? ? ? ? ?

Re: Thanks LloydsTSB for your Excessive Quote

I used a bank that used to say "There is another way"
How they used to hate me when they were unhelpful and I'd quote that back at them in a loud voice in front of a bank full of customers  Cheesy Suddenly you'd find an office was available to discuss the issue in.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

The comparative sites annoy me when they tell you they can save you £150 a year by switching suppliers.  Most of us would have made the switch years ago so the saving isn't there anymore.  Looking at the sites you'd be lucky to save £15.
