Tesco Self Service

I used the self checkout at Tesco's yesterday. I put a little extra in my bag and rather than saying "Unexpected item in the bagging area" it just said
"Good afternoon Mr Worrall-Thompson".

Re: Tesco Self Service

Uhmm! its all over the papers today. Explaining how unwell AWT is and struggling to cope with life in general. No mention is made that he may have done it because he thought he could get away with it.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Tesco Self Service

A Psychologist was on the news last night explaining all the various reasons why a person might go shop lifting and treatment was available for it.
One treatment she forgot to mention was a spell in Jail.

5 times in one store Shocked I'd doubt the rest of us would get away with more than once.
One wonders whether he has a new restuarant to open or book to sell Undecided
On the subject of self check-out...
I was in Morrison's last week and, along with the rest of  my shopping, I purchased a large bag of spuds. Having had issues scanning several items this way and that there was no way I was going to jiggle a 12.5kg bag so I ripped the bar code off and scanned that.
Machine went into overdrive with beeps and a message that the weight does not match the item Roll eyes Only the intervention of the assistant stopped the damn thing.

Re: Tesco Self Service

Self service checkouts are great for misprices when you buy 20 items at 10p when they should be £10 each !!

Re: Tesco Self Service

The most annoying ones are those which audibly tell you to "place the item in the bag" after every thing you scan, when a simple beep would suffice.

Because I get my wife to do the shopping.

The ones I see are always manned by an assistant who is usually kept very busy correcting errors of one kind or another.

Re: Tesco Self Service

We've even used ones in Portugal. We spend a month there during the winter, and whilst we get by with our Portuguese, we'd always fought shy of the self service checkouts. Anyway last year there was very few checkouts open and long queues, so an assistant beckoned us over to the self service. Ok, I thought, at least she's there if we need help. Once we got there, we discovered you just press the correct button and, guess what, they work in English! Grin
