Off to see my doc t'morrow.
Hoping to get an ENT appointment as it's also affected my hearing. Just about totally deaf in one
I can sympathise with your Mrs. Had all sorts of issues some 30 years ago and I kept getting the brush off so I went to an ENT specialist privately. He took one look up my nose and said I had a huge polyp up there!
Long story short, went privately for an operation to get it removed and all was sorted although it was a really uncomfortable procedure and I'm dreading it might be the same thing again.
Fingers crossed it's not.
PS Thanks for the NeilMed suggestion, I'll ask the doc about it. 😃

That's good to hear although I imagine there are polyps and there are polyps.
Mine was the size of a sausage - the surgeon showed it to me in a jar afterwards and asked if I wanted to keep it! Post operative splints each side of my nose, enough packing up there for a crate of beer from Amazon, and discomfort like you'd never believe. Two weeks of no smell or taste...and later when it was all pulled out the chap who had been in the next bed had to have his nose repacked without anaesthetic as it had not finished healing.
I'd not have wished any of it on my worst enemy. 😫

Meanwhile: Back on topic

We decided to try Tesco Home Delivery in light of the General Winter bugs, and the new Chinese CoronaVirus, to limit our contact and exposure with other members of the Public.
Very satisfied.
Next day delivery (Wednesday) for just £1 (anytime), spend over £40 for no additional fee.
Items arrived at the start of the delivery window, driver very helpful.
No items missing.
Bulked up the order with non-perishable & canned goods, plus freezer items.
Less expensive (Petrol costs) and warm, hassle free shopping.
(We normally do most of our food shopping at Tesco, with an occasional visit to Asda.)
Definitely an experience to be repeated.....
It is... next week.....

Indeed, so let's stay with one person's paranoia about their own health.
Me? I'm off to put some alcohol gel on my hands and then dab some under each nostril or failing that, a home delivery from Tesco in order to avoid contact with the unclean.
Can't be too careful y'know, there's a lot of it about.
I jest of course and there is a serious aspect to all of it, but has it really come to this?

Agreed, but sometimes we can take things just a bit to far, which is all I'm suggesting.
Our bodies are designed to beat off infections whether they be viral, bacterial or fungal and if we isolate ourselves from others how are we going to recognise and develop immunities.
No magic bullet and sure our bodies fail to respond or becomes overwhelmed but sometimes helping is not helping - just look at the way antibiotics have become all but useless because we thought it was exactly that, a magic bullet. Then there are those MMR injections and which I fully support by the way, are they prevention or are they intervention?
A bit of balance, a bit of common sense and as that paper suggests in its conclusion, a need to embrace all in order to keep ourselves well and safe after all, nobody wants to live in a bubble do they.

Alcohol is a good antiseptic, maybe if things of a brown nature hit the fan, maybe we could get Vodka on prescription? 😂

What, £9 for a bottle of Vodka?
Outrageous, it would be free in Wales. 😃

Well it's already free for people like me unable to work, so, yeah... 😂
And besides, the cheapest 700ml Vodka at tesco is their own Tesco Value (now renamed "Nikita") stuff at £10, so a quid off is a nice saving... 🤣

@Lægen , your name means the doctor in Danish, any significance, i.e. are you a doctor, or perhaps the current Dr Who?

Dr Who was a Time Lord and one that like most doctors adopted it as an honorary title having never studied for a post graduate PhD.
More of a diddle than a proper doctor. 😜

Well well, saw the doc this more guess what, persistent rhinitis which she thinks I am suffering from and which is caused in the main by.... dust mites.
And the answer?
To address the cause not the symptom, but I was prescribed something to squirt up my nose anyway!

If @Lægen is a medic and has decided to go to such lengths not to get infected, perhaps the rest of us should take the situation more seriously, too.
