We decided to try Tesco Home Delivery in light of the General Winter bugs, and the new Chinese CoronaVirus, to limit our contact and exposure with other members of the Public.
Very satisfied.
Next day delivery (Wednesday) for just £1 (anytime), spend over £40 for no additional fee.
Items arrived at the start of the delivery window, driver very helpful.
No items missing.
Bulked up the order with non-perishable & canned goods, plus freezer items.
Less expensive (Petrol costs) and warm, hassle free shopping.
(We normally do most of our food shopping at Tesco, with an occasional visit to Asda.)
Definitely an experience to be repeated.....

Good for you, way to go.
There used to be another forum member who told us all sorts of tales about his bulk buying and home deliveries, mind you he bulk-bought most things - Jeep Cherokees, Ford Kugas, fans for hot weather, you name it!

Getting several bouts of deja vu on the forum lately.
Must be that time of year.

That all sounds rather drastic isolating yourself like that I must say.
A few sniffles doing the rounds and suddenly it's Mad Max meets Terminator in some sort of post apocalyptic world.
Did you ask for the Tesco driver to be wearing a face mask in case they sneezed all over you? 😉

I can see both points here - in that you want to keep away from people, trouble is you can't always do so. What if you need something down the shops and have to be present somewhere (work for example).
As bad as it is, I am going to carry on with my life and then worry if it reaches London, and if it reaches my part of South Eastern I probably will worry a lot more and stay in.

If I do need something extra, I can pop in quickly (early), limit my exposure, get it self serve, and avoid others.

If anyone on this forum is the most at risk, it's those of us living near Durham City, where there are a high population of chinese students studying at the university, though how many of them went to China for their new year celebrations and ended up stuck there versus those who got back before the lockdown, I don't know, but I also don't really care as already pointed out in the main thread on the Coronavirus outbreak... 😂

I prefer to do my food shopping in person and will continue to do so, Tesco is my supermarket of choice. I usually do my shopping about 7am, when it isn't busy. Whenever I have been out in public I always use alcohol gel on my hands and put a little in each nostril too. I haven't have a cold for about three years. Of course I have my flu jab each year.

In light of this current flu pandemic, something else you can put up your nose if you have a mind to is saline solution.
From time to time I'm plagued by sinusitis and a daily squirt up the old nostrils helps keep under control.
You can buy saline nose drops from a pharmacy of course or like myself you can make your own saline solution.
1. Add 1 cup (250 mL) distilled water to a clean container. If you use tap water, boil it first to sterilize it and then let it cool until it is lukewarm.
2. Add 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) salt to the water
3. Ad 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) baking soda.
Give it a good shake and store - I keep mine in a (previously emptied) Grolsch flip top bottle. 😋

@Minivanman there are a few "Nasal Douche" treatments available at your local pharmacy... ask the phamacist for advice...
My missus had many years of headaches.... until she went to see a specialist surgeon at Southampton Hospital..
(Private Hospital) .... He did a head scan of her .. and was horrified... so much so, that he waived his fees, and promptly made arrangements for her to be admitted to Southampton NHS hospital for surgery.
The head scan revealed that her front lobal sinus cavities were full to burstin of mucus ... and on one side was putting pressure on the brain... on the other side it would have forced the eyeball out of it`s socket.
The operation was carried out... and ...was successful... however...His "after surgery" treatment.. included a three times daily NASAL DOUCHE using NEILMED powder dissolved in boiled water.. ( sterilised ) . at body temp.
We had to go back to see him on a regular basis... every fortnight for three months then monthly for him to do some suction to remove excess.
visiting him lasted for 7 years ! ! ! ... but she has been told by him, to continue the douche at least once a day... and she still does it... It is now 9 years since the operation...
