Re: Terry Wogan Dies

I have just had that popup on the BBC news site, a sad loss of another legend. But when you hear or read things like this about people that you have 'grown up' with, doesn't half give you a reality check on your own mortality!

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

I know he didn't host Children in Need due to ill health but wasn't expecting this.
Really sorry to see him go  Cry

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

That's quite a shock...
I had always hoped he'd come back to do the Eurovision Song Contest again Crazy
I remember going to a recording of his chat show in the late 80's - it was the very emotional interview with Eartha Kitt.
His blarney will be surely missed.

He made Eurovision worth watching. Loved his wit.

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

Oh no! not Wogan as well.
This can't be true.
SWMBO and I were huge fans of his early morning radio programmes.
National Treasure somehow has now a whole new meaning.
He will be sadly, sadly missed.

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

Of all the deaths of celebrities that have been posted in this forum, strangely, this is the one that moves me to sorrow the most.

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

This was rather a shock as I seem to recall hime being on a programme on TV not that long ago.
Maybe his cancer was one of the more aggressive ones. For some reason the press dont seem to say what disease it was - I have prostate cancer = diagnosed 6 years ago - and don't mind people knowing - but some are more reserved and dont talk about it.
Terry was a legend in the radio and TV world - and helped relationships between Ireland and Britain.

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

@Mal08
As you say it must have been very aggressive or diagnosed late.
He did do something from home for Children in Need
My radical cancer surgery was 7 years ago this coming June and my abdominal aorta repair was 6 years ago next month.

Good - we both are doing well.

Re: Terry Wogan Dies

Pancreatic Cancer is one of the quickest and most difficult to diagnose I believe, but there are others. But maybe this isn't the place to discuss possibilities.
