TV Sound Anomoly

I have Channel 5 on at the moment which is showing X2.
The sound is much lower than other channels.
The TV is normally set to a volume level of around 20.
For Channel 5 I have to turn it up to 70 to get an equivalent perceived level.
I just have to remember to turn it back down before I change channels Shocked
Edit: This is on Freeview and I tried it on Freesat and it's the same.
Edit 1:I tried it with the 5.1 on and it's marginally better as expected but nowhere near 'normal'
Edit 2: Adverts are quite a bit louder Undecided

Re: TV Sound Anomoly

No difference here on the adverts but the actual program is significantly quieter

Thanks Jim.
I've asked Channel 5 why this might be, but don't expect an answer.

Re: TV Sound Anomoly

I have a similar issue with just one program; Dallas on CBS Drama. The volume for this one series is so low I have to increase the volume considerably but whip it back down for the adverts. I don't remember having audio problems when it was on BBC1 or UK Gold. I did remember the latter series on the BBC were like watching through net curtains Roll eyes

Re: TV Sound Anomoly

Big Love on SKY Atlantic was extremely low for many episodes when it first started.
Adverts normal level.
Several emails to SKY, and it was eventually sorted.

X2, could be the transmission copy was copied at a low level, and replayed at standard output setting for the machine, or even replayed with output volume knob set low, by accident .
Adverts OK, played out from a different machine and routing.

Most TV transmission suites don't have the loudspeakers on high, just watch needles and hear alarm warnings for NO video or NO audio.
Programme is only there to fill in the gaps between the money making adverts.
