Switching Banks

New rules are to be introduced to speed up the time it takes to switch bank accounts. From the 16th September banks have agreed to switch accounts in 7 days.

I was surprised to read that on average we change our bank account only once every 26 years.

I have had my account with the same bank for 27 years - no reason to change
Actually I also still have the previous current account (now dormant) that I opened over 40 years ago. I should probably close that one - it's got 20 quid in it

Re: Switching Banks

I have my main account with Lloyds TSB and find them very good.  Guess I've been with them for over 30 years.

Re: Switching Banks

I don't know if I've changed banks  Huh
I've been with the Bank of Scotland for years but it has merged with the Halifax to become HBOS then got taken over by Lloyds TSB, my account 'branding' hasn't changed though, I just have a lot more branches I can use now.  Smiley

My father opened a savings account for me with Midland Bank ( now HSBC) 78 years ago - still with them  Sad

Re: Switching Banks

I've been with LLoyds since 1947, though changed branches several times. Never had any real problems, nor any bank charges other than for special requirements.

Since when did that happen? Are you sure about that?

Re: Switching Banks

Oh quite some time ago, then. Still their documents state Bank of Scotland. I don't recall any mention of Lloyds TSB on them. I think I might have to have another look.

Re: Switching Banks

I have a halifax and b.o.s account.
When I log into either of them for internet banking, both accounts are shown.
It is an identical website to, just with a different logo in the corner!
