Swallows!

I heard a swallow fly over the garden yesterday afternoon Smiley! It was past in a flash, so I didn't see it, but they have a distinctive twittering call.

Re: Swallows!

We have to keep our garage doors shut around this time as else the swallows come in and nest in the roof beams. They don't seem to care about us driving cars or motorcycle in and out, or even being shut in overnight. Weird sensation opening the door first thing in the morning and seeing them sitting there waiting to fly out  Make a bit of a mess though Smiley

Re: Swallows!

Last weekend I had a greenfinch fly into the kitchen through the open door. As I came in from outside it made a bolt for freedom, flew straight into the window and landed in a dazed heap in the sink. I picked it up, and went back outside. The bird sat in my hand for a couple of minutes, then started shaking, threw up over my hand and flew off. There's gratitude for you  Roll eyes.

Re: Swallows!

We have quite a few swallows or swifts flying around in evening as one of my neighbours has a nest under roof facia - I cannot tell which they are as they are so fast darting around in air.

Re: Swallows!

Swallows have been around Essex for over a month, also saw a lot where I was last week. Durham/Northumberland, Kielder
We also have a fair number of Swifts here and have seen Sandmartins on the Essex Coast, house martins have been sadly lacking for the last few years
Have got a Robin and several blackbirds come into the Kitchen to feed, plus a load of messy greedy starlings, they claim they are in danger, they can have mine if they want them
