That was me, I dragged it out for 25 mins before deciding to hang up. The bloke rang back too.. I could have dragged it on longer but I was getting bored lol.
I managed to keep him going with things like "oh i can't find the file i downloaded", "file <name> can't be run because its missing <xyz>.dll", "my connection is very slow so its taking its time to download" etc etc.
Not been troubled by another call again since  Wink
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Well done, I.T.Works.
You have raised the bar and set a further challenge.
I now look forward to receiving another one of these calls Cool

We should set up a calling chain where people with call transfer capability hand on the call to the next caller in the chain. ... "oh, you should speak to Mr Brown about this, he's our expert on pc's ...."

Re: Support Tech Guys Scam

When i got board and just before i told him i had been playing along ,he wanted to call me back in 20 mins , obviously he has not called back  Cheesy
I had him on the phone for 40 mins before he got  " you need to download the remote software" after i pretended to download and run it ( he must have though he was on to a winner) i told him that had had a box saying something like i did not have the privileges to run the program, and it needed to be run as administrator , and i would need to reboot and login in as Admin and start again  Cheesy
I must say he was very patient  Crazy

Re: Support Tech Guys Scam

I've been on annual leave for the first half of the week and had one of these funny folk on the phone yesterday. Normally I would play, but I was on a marathon TV sprint of trying to watch anything and everything that is not called "Jeremy Kyle".

Re: Support Tech Guys Scam

I wish I had your patience I.T.Works but I get so quickly would up by these sort of people.
I've only had one such call recently, he addressed my by name and said he was calling to advise me about a problem they had detected with my computer, I simply replied 'No, you're calling because you think I'm an idiot who might be taken in by a scam like this, now just **** off and have a nice life'.
Oddly I have not been bothered by such calls since.
