The Minister said that he wants the UK to have the fastest broadband in Europe by 2015.
Never going to happen.

Re: Super fast Broadband

Lol..
With the mess BT have made of our BB connection I doubt it too.
Oddly though while its become quite unreliable and we're suffering frequent disconnections, the speed is now upto 7.7Mbps  Shocked

I Only get 1.0Mbps but at least it's reliable with no disconnections

@artmo, Think he said 'best' not fastest,

Yes he did say best rather than fastest but speed was one of the 4 benchmarks used.
Quote
"In order to determine what constitutes 'the best' network in Europe, we will adopt a scorecard which will focus on four headline indicators: speed, coverage, price and choice," the strategy says.
"These will be made up of a number of composite measures rather than a single factor such as headline download speed."

Re: Super fast Broadband

Just to put some perspective on what is happening in the UK, I am one of the participants in the Plusnet Fibre Trials and just over a week ago BT came to my house in Milton Keynes to install FTTP.
I'm now enjoying around 90Mbps Cheesy and so far it's reliable.

Re: Super fast Broadband

I migrated to Plusnet in August and have not had any problems. Therefore no posts.  Cool
I guess being involved in the Plusnet Fibre Trials has stimulated some interest from me!!
You can get some information from the Fibre Trials forum. I first showed an interest in the trials on Dave's post:

Re: Super fast Broadband

Think its time we replaced either BBC presenters or the Culture Minister
Anyone hear James Naughtie (today program) this morning.
What made it worse was Andrew Marr  repeated the slip (whilst trying to avoid doing so).
What has this to do with superfast broadband? ..... the culture minister was announcing it.

Nothing new. The BBC called Sir Stafford Cripps 'Sir Stifford Crapps' decades ago.
