Stormy Weather

Some pretty stormy weather across the UK and through the weekend.  Run the sequence to see what's happening:

There is also a report of a policeman missing in the storm in Cunbria

Re: Stormy Weather

They were saying that one place had just over a foot of rain in 24 hours - this was thought to be highest ever recorded in UK.
I really feel sorry for people whose houses get flooded and have their treasured possessions destroyed.

Some dramatic pics of the flooding.  The missing policeman went missing from the bridge.

Re: Stormy Weather

Was speaking to my brother who lives near Cork in the Republic of Ireland. They got very badly hit: http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/1120/flooding_gallery.html
Seams where I am in  NI we escaped the worst of it.
It is always very sad to see people loosing their houses but unfortunately it is an inevitable occurrence that will always happen from time to time.

Just saw that on Sky news. Thankfully I think he has been the only victim of the flooding?

All the way up the west coast as well, certainly as far as Galway. That's a big chunk of land affected.

From the report I watched on the RTE 9o'clock news it seams to be pretty much the entire country!

Re: Stormy Weather

DHL was due to pick up a parcel for me from Belfast on Monday.  Due to the weather (so they say) it wasn't picked up until yesterday and I got it today.

I think there will be a lot of clearing up to do before things get back to normal.  Looking at the news you have to be very sorry for those that have been flooded.

Re: Stormy Weather

I think DHL maybe got caught up on the way here or are maybe making excuses. I work in Belfast and am not aware of any flooding causing travel problems.
I at least would have heard about it in the local traffic and travel reports.
