Never clicked the link but as for storms, this could go on and on couldn't it? only now we have the technology to see them more often because they have always been around. And why are we reporting storms? @Mav cooked up a storm in the kitchen yesterday but I don't see that being reported anywhere #getitright

I have to say I think some of these storms are getting overblown. Yes I did say that.
Here we had all the warnings of high winds yesterday but the real storm was confined to the Wales area.
I have a simple way of judging wind strength.
Very windy - my front room door starts opening by itself.
Very very windy - my living room door joins in.
None of that happened yesterday so for me I would say it was just a bit blowy.
So here it was a case of storm, what storm.

No storm round here yesterday, today's been a bit gusty, but quite sunny and reasonably nice, so that Storm Brian was a bit of a damp squib given it was meant to cause chaos for the whole country...
Of course, Ophelia was a pretty windy night and a rather soggy day, and the preceding orange skies were certainly freaky as heck, and as predicted it caused a lot of damage to parts of Ireland, but the following storm as mentioned was definitely a bit over-hyped...

I slept through the '87 hurricane but doubt I would these days with the insomnia.
Still no sign of any storm in the far East of Kent.

I remember that one. Didn't sleep much that night. Spent the time listening to tiles creaking and moving and several sliding down the roof crashing to the ground.
And my local hire shop only had a single one wheeled roof ladder left. There was a sudden demand apparently.

This type of weather will please those firms who make fencing panels, certainly a few missing or smashed around here.

It's mid-October. It is normal to get storms at this time of the year in the UK.
