Re: Stop Complaining about a Little Snow

I'm more a late night studying person than a day one to be honest.
Always have been, back when I was doing my GNVQ I used to lark around during the day and write my coursework at night, used to get top marks for it too.

Re: Stop Complaining about a Little Snow

Is a GNVQ the fake version of a couple of A-Levels?

Re: Stop Complaining about a Little Snow

Not if done properly you cheeky (self censored)!

Three years of hard graft producing Distinction level assignments on areas such as Marketing, Law and Finance plus additional units.
(Intermediate 1 year and Advanced 2 years)
Bet you went to college with a bunch that scraped a pass didn't you like a lot of them did.

Equivalent to 3 A-Levels!

According to whom, when I saw what the NVQ lot were up to certainly didn't seem equivalent to the A-Levels I was taking...

Re: Stop Complaining about a Little Snow

Quite happy to provide some examples of my work if you wish and you can judge for yourself.
Most of the group I was stuck with I would indeed consider wastes of space and most of them are still working in a certain fast food chain and I bumped into one of them stacking the shelves in an American wholesale store whose name escapes me at the moment.
Sadly those courses had a bad reputation but to be honest when I looked at A-Levels I'd have rather jumped off the nearest bridge.
Had it been available I'd have taken electronics further than I did but the school would not invest in the equipment so it was either Business or Health and Social Care.
Business was more interesting to me so took that.
I'm more a practical person than an academic

I'm very sorry the country fails to meet your high standards.
Considered emigration?
Edit:  How the hell did we get from snow to GNVQ's?

Re: Stop Complaining about a Little Snow

Edit: to put comment more diplomatically
The people I was stuck with were not particularly nice people, most of whom were still trying to scrape a pass when I was asked to go back and work with children with special needs who required support with ICT skills as none of the Learning Support Assistants wanted to go near a PC.
While of course I have enormous respect for those that can study subjects such as sociology, its not much use if you were like me and your mind was set to persue a career in IT.

I used to do my work at night, mainly to do with the fact it would be due the morning after.
There was a time where we didn't start a bit of coursework until the night before and we all stayed up to finish it. I thought I might get some sleep, but it took longer than expected and I got none.
Handed it in though, but didn't feel great in the morning.
That was a one-off, wasn't usually that bad Smiley

Re: Stop Complaining about a Little Snow

I did something similar with my A-Level (yes, that's the proper qualification, Mitch) Geography coursework.
Did a 12 hour stint the day before the day before it was due to be handed in.  Was rather lucky as I had a 24 hour spate of food poisoning the day after!

Actually no.  It was on Microclimatology within a 2 mile radius.
