Steam Roller owner is "tyred" out ....

Steam Roller owner, has been told, he cannot take his steam roller on the roads, because the metal wheels and roller will damage the road surface

Who told him?    DVSA.   !

They say he has to have special rubber tyres fitted, so that he can take his driving test...  before he is allowed to use/take it on the road

They should be paying him for helping to flatten all the lumps and bumps on the roads.

Re: Steam Roller owner is "tyred" out ....

I was stuck behind a huge asphalt road roller last year for about five miles, one of those that are usually taken by a low loader so obviously somebody was saving on cost at the expense of inconvenience. Sounds daft but surely the authorities have a point.

I know where I am, I've been lost here before.

Just seen that advert on TV for some insurance company, wonder if they had permission to use it on the road?

And yet, Fred Dibnah made it round the country on "inappropriate tyres" while driving a steam traction engine..........

One rule for some, another rule for everyone else I guess...
