Start Panic Buying Walkers Crisps & Birds Eye Fish Fingers

Time to start your panic buy of Walkers Crisps and Birds Eye products... as both these companies want to increase their prices due to the value of the pound dropping by 18% since the June Brexit vote...

this means a 32g (standard pack ) of crisps which currently cost ten bob a packet.. ( half a nicker to some )... or 50p to all you youngsters out there...  will go up to eleven bob a packet   or 55p for the younger element among us..

The larger "Grab Bag"... will rise from FIFTEEN SHILLINGS ( 3 Crowns)  to SIXTEEN SHILLINGS or 80p for the younger element.

32grams of potato crisps is just over one ounce of potato !   ( 1.128 oz)...  a 5lb bag of potatoes, would cost £56 (approx) at that rate... !

OR... just don't buy those products. Punish this blatant corporate greed. The increases are just to maintain the $ denominated profit targets within their corporations.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Don't eat either - so no panic buying here.Wink

On a more serious note - these multi-national companies are taking us for a ride - and blaming Brexit is just an excuse - they've 'adjusted' prices in the past without any scapegoats.

Re: Start Panic Buying Walkers Crisps & Birds Eye Fish Fingers

Potato slicer, hot oil in a cast iron pan, seasonings to flavour them, and there you have homemade crisps... Smiley

And on a similar vein, slab o' cheap fish, sliced into "fingers", eggwash, dip in seasoned flour, eggwash again, dip in breadcrumbs, set aside in the fridge while you do the crisps, deep-fry for a couple minutes in the hot oil in the cast iron pan & finish in't oven, homemade fish fingers... Smiley

Who buys those vastly overpriced brands anyway.

All those companies, Apple included, can put up prices as much as they like. But if they really want to sell anything I expect them to have a serious rethink in a few months time.

Just another reason not to buy either of those products and add to the previous ones such as rubbish, unhealthy, poor value and now, overpriced..... but then they always were.

PS.Marmite is also still off my list, or rather on my list of things not to buy.

We don't buy either. Fingers are completely out, and I much prefer kettle crisps.

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

You're going to have to speak in metric to have the younger generation understand Smiley  I have a 17 year old volunteer helping in my orchard. He gets completely baffled if I speak in inches or shillings, let alone bobs, tanners or tuppence.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Start Panic Buying Walkers Crisps & Birds Eye Fish Fingers

So, what is the metric equivalent of 80p then?
