Why is St George's day always such a damp squib?
The English should be proud and not ashamed to celebrate it - and so what if the dragon-slaying was outsourced to a middle eastern contractor?
I had this weather vane on my house in France, and now it's up high here in Wales!

So how much do you know about St George?
Not much in my case, it seems... 4/9...

Apparently a certain JC wants to make St George's day a public holiday, along with three other days as well.

From Twitter
The next Labour government will make
#StGeorgesDay a bank holiday for Britain’s workers.
Britain's workers?

Just had a tweet back from Ms Abbott, and according to her calculations it will cost a total of around £2.50 - and that includes the price of a cup of tea and a sticky bun for Jeremy.

Well however you define what a worker is, more bank holidays yes? I mean just think of it, even more people taking to the roads at the same time!

I've no objections to more bank holidays.
In fact, I can't wait to see the Morris dancers celebrating an English saint in Sauchiehall Street

Sauchiehall Street? Well we've had kilts marching up the Mall, so why not?
Seriously though, and although I rather like Morris Dancing (just watching mind) those of us with roots from up t'north would much rather see England celebrated with a proper brass band.... and maybe even some clog dancing!

Well we are well served with those statutory holidays, but I see nothing amiss in having separate bank holidays for England, Scotland and Wales.
But why a total four?
Ah yes, May Day.
