Sprouts ..... and Marmite

Sprouts ..... and Marmite
I like both, but not together !
Just me on my own  Yesterday..
In my local Supermarket Tuesday, whist gathering items for a Roast Chicken Dinner, I noticed for the first time in a while, they had Sprouts.
Medium sized, packaged in a bag, 99p
Whilst preparing the Roast, temptation took over, and I microwaved a handful of Sprouts, guestimated time, just a small amount of water.
No cuts in the base, not necessary.
Mmmmm, perfection, al dente,  sweet with no bitterness, added some butter and pepper to the bowl, did an Elvis, and indulged myself.

Sprouts to many are like Marmite I feel, but properly cooked, they are delicious.

Marmite, my preferred method of eating..
Two slices of bread, back to back in the toaster, one side toasted, the other (in)side soft, each slice.
Wait a minute, spread butter onto soft side, add Marmite.... Yummy.

Unfortunately it's not easy to get either whilst abroad.. Cry
Though it can be done, I always take a few jars of Marmite with me when visiting relatives, much appreciated.

But have you actually tried them together though?
Sometimes strange combinations work better then you'd think.
I like cheese with peanut butter.

Sprouts a bit early for me, need to leave a few more weeks. Always found with sprouts, parsnip, and sprouting broccoli, the taste improves after a couple of frosts.

Marmite .... Yukkkkkkk.
Sprouts ....  Love them. Never thought of having them on their own before. The only trouble is sprouts don't particularly like me. The frozen type don't seem bothered but fresh....

Re: Sprouts ..... and Marmite

Love Marmite, and sprouts. Must have had them together at times, as often SWMBO uses Marmite in her gravy recipe.
On toast, I like Marmite with peanut butter.
Talking of combinations - it's not often that I've got both to hand at the same time, but I do like chicken flavoured crisps with dark chocolate.

Re: Sprouts ..... and Marmite

I love both ! The other members of the family won't eat sprouts though Sad
Best recipe I've found for them is to shred them up, fry them in some butter, a little garlic, and some finely chopped bacon until it's all crispy then season with salt and pepper.

Sprouts are disgusting.
Marmite.. they say you either love it hate it but I'm neutral (go figure!). I like it but not too much of it. It has to be spread thinly in a sandwich or on toast. Too thick and its horrible.

Marmite doesn't seem as strongly flavoured as it used to. Sad
