Spontaneous Combustion

There is a news report in todays mail regarding a man who suddenly caught fire for no reason and it's been suggested this could be due to spontaneous Combustion which I would have thought was impossible but there have been other instances where it is claimed this has happened.

How is it possible for the authorities to say well we cannot see what caused it and leave it there ? surely with all the scientific tests available today they should have some idea of what caused it other than spontaneous combustion.

Re: Spontaneous Combustion

When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Re: Spontaneous Combustion

Its been years since I heard that term ' spontaneous combustion ' I can't remember where I first found out about it but it was quickly dismissed. The ' wick effect ' seems more plausible in some cases.

Re: Spontaneous Combustion

The Tory wets (not heard that term recently either) needn't worry I suppose.

Re: Spontaneous Combustion

I've always wondered if an overdose of perfume/deodorant/after shave followed by a quick [-Censored-] has ever been the cause.

That's a silly censor. I guess I should say cigarette and not the harmless F word.
